Title Survey Crew Chief

Position Overview As part of our growing Geomatics team, the Survey Crew Chief will utilize their knowledge and experience to perform daily fieldwork required for Land Development, Transportation, and Structural projects. This will include basic field supervision, support of junior crews, basic equipment maintenance, and assist the division Lead with estimating survey proposals when required.
Responsibilities Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
• Assist civil inspectors/project managers/discipline managers with trouble shooting field issues
• Prepare proposed and as-built plans using GPS, robotic Total Stations and Civil 3D or Trimble Business Center
• Performing all aspects of construction and topographic surveys
• Interfacing with the Survey and Geomatics Lead and other discipline managers/project managers as needed
• Plan and conduct control surveys for construction, mapping and design purposes
• Maintaining a Company vehicle and Company issued survey equipment
• Supervision of junior field crews when required
• Adherence to Company safety policies
Requirements • The successful candidate will:
• Possess a Technologist Diploma in Geomatics from a recognized institution
• 4+ years’ experience in civil/construction surveying
• Have strong mathematical and technical skills
• Have a working knowledge of Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and TBC is preferred
• Proficiency with Trimble GPS and Trimble Total Stations is preferred
• Possess the ability to perform fieldwork and a flexible schedule based on project needs (position will including some weekend and extended hours during construction season)
• Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta Operator’s License must be maintained and is a condition of employment

Working Conditions:
• Limited out of town work, most projects are in the city of Calgary or surrounding communities
• Dual role position; acting as the QC surveyor (Consultant) on some contracts and as a survey sub-contractor on others
