| Position Overview |
ISL’s Buildings group delivers all types of designs for building structures to suit project needs, from a minimal visual impact approach, through to fully exposed and detailed steel, concrete and wood construction. We are looking to add talent to our group, as our business grows in the timber market. |
| Responsibilities |
• Timber construction engineering, prefabrication planning and design
• Develop detailed three dimensional models of timber frame joinery
• Expand the Canadian market in passive house wall systems
• Consult with the heavy timber and glulam supply industry
• Utilize the most current European Technology in the N. American market
• Provide training and education in Dietrichs CAD/CAM software program

| Requirements |
• Degree in Wood Engineering - required
• Certified Passive House Planner – required
• Carpenter – an asset
• Minimum 8+ years of experience in:
o 3-D timber modeling software such as Detrichs and HSB Cad
o Structural design of heavy timbers including but not limited to; Engineering analysis, connection design, detailing of joinery and interfacing with other material
• Knowledge and application of the latest sustainable technologies in residential construction e.g. “Passive house construction”
• Detailed knowledge of heavy timber hardware from around the world and its application
