Position Overview ISL Saskatoon is looking for a dedicated Senior Structural Engineer. As part of a team of professional engineers, the Senior Structural Engineer will utilize their knowledge and experience to complete a variety of projects providing clients with services ranging from conceptual design to construction.
Responsibilities • Plan, analyze and design various bridges, culverts, heavy civil structures, and other infrastructure projects
• Design of steel, concrete, and precast concrete structures as well as experience in pre-stressed, and post tensioned concrete
• Mentor of junior engineers and technical staff
• Prepare cost estimates from individual items and unit prices
• Prepare tender documents including specifications; front-end documents and special provisions
• Prepare report figures; public meeting displays and other exhibits
• Contract document preparation including technical specifications
• Liaison with project managers and clients
• Liaise with clients, contractor and other consultants regarding project scheduling, budgeting, contract administration, and construction services
• Develop and maintain ongoing client relationships
• Coordinate engineering and technical personnel and review work for quality control purposes
• Coordinate and inspect assigned field projects
• Complete Constructability Reviews
• Project management of both small and large scale projects
• Various modeling tasks using AutoCAD or Civil 3D
• Interpretation of applicable standards and codes ensuring specifications are met
• Ensure compliance with required design safety factors, tolerances, and specifications
Requirements • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university; (post graduate degree an asset)
• Eligible for, or currently registered member of APEGS
• Ten to twelve years’ experience (of which 8+ should be in consulting engineering)
• Ability to liaise with clients, contractors and other consultants of various disciplines
• Ability to contribute to a team effort in the preparation of proposals, project schedules, budgets, contract administration, and construction services
• Possess strong communication and organizing skills
• Solid working knowledge of Civil 3D and AutoCAD
• Proficient with design modeling software such as SAP
• Exemplary communication skills, verbal and written
• Clear ability and desire to work in a team environment
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
