Position Overview Our environmental services group is currently integrated in several transportation infrastructure, municipal infrastructure and forestry projects. To meet current demand, and anticipated work flow we require a full time, permanent, junior Environmental Scientist I to assist our Environmental Lead in the delivery of high quality environmental services on a variety projects.

Working under the direction of the Environmental Lead at our Langley, BC office, the candidate will be responsible for assignments in the delivery of environmental assessment, environmental impact assessment, and environmental permitting services in support of municipal infrastructure, transportation infrastructure, forestry sector, and land development projects.
Responsibilities This position requires a candidate who has a strong technical background and who views this position, as a first step in a career in the environmental sciences. Project work will focus principally in the areas of environmental permitting, fish sampling and salvage, impact mitigation planning, environmental monitoring and erosion and sediment control design and inspection.

Based on experience and aptitude, the successful candidate would be given opportunities for expanded duties and career growth within our environmental services group.
Requirements The ideal candidate will have experience participating in fish habitat assessments, Riparian Area Regulation assessments, fish sampling, fish and amphibian salvages. The candidate should also have working knowledge of fish identification, riparian plant identification, and erosion and sediment control practices. Past experience in environmental monitoring and erosion and sediment control inspection would be an asset.

Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills. Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills are particularly important.

Mandatory qualifications
• Degree or diploma in fisheries, wildlife, forestry, or environmental sciences
• Strong computer skills are essential (e.g. MS Office)
• Class 5 driver’s license valid in B.C.

Additional desirable qualifications
• Electrofishing certification
• Level 1 First Aid and Transportation Endorsement
• Erosion and sediment control inspection experience/training
• Construction Environmental Monitoring experience/training
• Autocad
