Position Title Associate Creative Director

Overview Manage, guide, and cultivate creative staff by routinely developing creative strategies and assisting with the solutions that effectively fulfill those strategies for all tactics within the assigned product(s). Train and develop direct reports to enhance their skills and abilities. Foster strong working relationships and other agency competencies (Account Services and Creative Services).
Description of Duties • Work closely with Account and Creative Services to schedule and monitor all projects. • Coauthor creative briefs with Account Services. • Facilitate both the creative input and preview meetings. • Review all creative work before routing process to ensure that it is on strategy. • Attend and contribute to both client and internal strategic meetings. • Attend and contribute to presentations to clients. Secondary Responsibilities: Staff Development (+/– 30%) • Enforce and maintain the creative standards instilled by the Creative Director. • Keep collective team focused, motivated, and engaged. • Conduct, attend, and/or monitor performance reviews of direct reports to encourage, motivate, and improve staff performance, and to ensure consistency and uniformity in its application in accordance with The Navicor Group’s standards. • Assist with development of Art Directors and Copywriters as it relates to team dynamics and succession planning. • Assist with maintaining a creative environment to keep staff motivated and enthusiastic. Tertiary Responsibilities: Conceptual/Tactical Development (+/– 20%) • Personally assist with workload, taking an active role in assisting the team (page layout, writing, editing, printing, composition, etc.) to get the job completed effectively. • Provide detailed direction for creative solutions, filling in for Art Directors and/or Copywriters when needed. • Assist Creative Director with creative development process for new business opportunities. • Handle special projects assigned by Creative Director.
Minimum Requirements • A bachelor’s (4–year) degree in advertising, communications or relevant field. • 6+ years of advertising experience, with at least 3 years in pharmaceutical advertising. • At least 2+ years of supervisory experience. • Former teaching or nonadvertising management experience preferred. • Must possess exceptional presentation skills (both oral and written). • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and provide marketable solutions in conceiving, developing, and producing tactics. Skills • Demonstrated complete understanding of market dynamics and science of assigned product(s) • Possess ability to thoroughly communicate knowledge of the brand(s) and therapeutic category. • Effectively manage multiple brand teams. • Possess ability to monitor client perceptions of creative product and develop any necessary action steps required to ensure comfort levels. • Exhibit thorough knowledge of agency processes and procedures. • Demonstrated ability to: • Make polished presentations on a regular basis. • Contribute strategically on a routine basis. • Provide effective direction and stimulation to creative groups. • Manage crises. • Manage challenging situations both internally and with the client. • Command respect from direct reports. Growth Path: Increased responsibilities and direct reports as the Agency and its affiliates continue to grow. As a general guide, seasoned Associate Creative Directors will be trained to become Creative Directors.
