||VP, Account Director

||This position recognizes an associate’s mastery of Account Director responsibilities, while providing opportunity for continued growth into a VP, Account Director position. This role enables overall team leadership, brand development and stewardship, and new business development. This position is directly responsible for agency team management, strategic consultation with clients, scope development and execution, account profitability, personnel development and growth of the agency, including current accounts and new business. The VP, Account Director will guide, manage and direct agency services as the primary owner of one or more key account relationships. He/she must be considered a trusted advisor both by internal and external teams – an advisor that clients: communicate with and consult on a routine basis, seek advice and input from, and trust to never let them down. The associate regularly demonstrates a deep understanding of the advertising agency, as well as the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry, at highly strategic and savvy levels. A VP, Account Director will be able to own account relationships across several clients, brands, types of service, and therapeutic areas. In this role, responsibilities for managing direct reports within Client Services are also expected. The position will will be relied upon by senior leadership to provide substantial input into the overall leadership, growth and development of the studio.
|Description of Duties
||Client Interaction - Serves as client's relationship/partner contact for all initiatives with that client - Highly adept at leading strategically-oriented meetings/discussions with senior client personnel; participates as needed in more tactically-oriented client meetings and discussions in order to oversee service delivery - Very skilled at expanding client relationships beyond service delivery related interactions to strategically related interactions - Expert at managing client expectations regarding all aspects of the client relationship, including service delivery, strategic development, team staffing, etc. - Passionately oversees all work for one to three large client accounts, as well as smaller project-based initiatives as assigned - Articulates client’s brand strategy and ensures strategy carries through in service delivery - Especially proficient at managing third-party relationships Project Management - Oversees a portfolio of projects as a whole, with the ability to dive deeply into specific project needs, as required - Adeptly owns, both internally and in conjunction with client and third party contributors, the on-time, on-budget delivery of projects by: - thoroughly understanding project parameters and deadlines - proficient awareness of factors that will affect scope - Develops and delivers internal briefings to outline project parameters for key initiatives Financial Management - Strong ability to develop and negotiate contractual relationships with clients in conjunction with studio and senior level management - Develops scope of service and project agreements, in conjunction with clients and available consultation with senior level studio staff - Facilitates resolution, with clients, of budgetary issues for moderate to large sized initiatives - Ensures SOX compliance in all necessary operational and financial processes - Oversees all financial management aspects for clients, such as estimates, service agreements, billings, receivables, etc. - Ensures studio team’s ability to work hours that have been scoped - Highly leveraged by the Studio Director in profitably running the studio Knowledge - Learns, understands, and internalizes assigned brands in detail; deeply knows brand’s competitive positioning and messaging; understands brand’s tactical needs and key strategic aspects - Keen understanding of Blue Diesel’s DRIVE methodology and its application across varied types of interactive services; strong ability to guide studio team in use of DRIVE - Adept in internal project and operational processes - Possesses specific subject matter expertise within all key areas of Blue Diesel's scope of capabilities - Deeply understands distinct domain needs and how those needs are interdependent in completing projects - Highly knowledgeable within the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry; able to apply industry and therapeutic area knowledge to client needs - Applies knowledge and experience to continuously improve Blue Diesel processes - Able to guide team in production of key client deliverables, such as requirements documentation and test plans - Adept with clients’ operational processes - Stays current with interactive trends and developments; strong ability to apply to clients’ needs - Proven ability to apply combination of interactive and industry knowledge to the benefit of clients as well as Blue Diesel Business Development - Skilled at managing and leading business development efforts for large, significant initiatives - Proficient at recognizing and developing new business opportunities, both within scope of assigned accounts and with new potential clients - Sells in new strategies and tactics with current clients by understanding client needs and opportunities aligned with Blue Diesel services - Ensures case studies are created at the conclusion of projects People Management - Proficient at coaching and mentoring skills for more junior staff members; also has formal performance management and career developments responsibilities; may be responsible for managing others who also have performance management responsibilities - Effectively collaborates within studio team; also able to collaborate on knowledge sharing, best practices, etc. across studios; may actively participate in such activities with leadership of the Client Services domain - Helps drive studio and team excitement, enthusiasm, and passion; identifies and acts upon opportunities for improvement in group dynamics - Directly manages one to six Client Services staff Travel - Able to travel to key client meetings and events, based on project activities - Expected to travel frequently to visit client in order to develop and maintain strong inter-personal relationships
||- Bachelor's degree - At least 7+years of general work experience is preferred, with 5-7 years in customer or client facing roles and 2-5 years experience working with interactive, 2-4 years general marketing experience - Experience working for an agency and/or within the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry is strongly preferred - Proven track record of project management capability - Ability to manage teams - Management responsibilities for Client Services staff - Articulate and clear in written and oral communications - Effective in a high pressure environment - Proactive and highly collaborative - Thorough and detail oriented - Proficient with standard office productivity software (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
