||Professors, Electronic Design Engineer
||The incumbent will be responsible for teaching courses in the Engineering technologies programs. In addition to teaching, responsibilities will include: classroom management and evaluation, developing course material and labs, program promotion and student recruitment, curriculum development, advising and mentoring students. As well, the position will take a leadership role in partnership development with particular emphasis on securing collaborative, industry driven, student projects.
||The successful candidate will possess a Master’s Degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Electronics/ Computer Engineering or related engineering field, along with a minimum of 3 years of experience designing, developing, integrating, testing and troubleshooting embedded systems applications. Applications include cutting-edge consumer electronics products that include system integration; embedded microcontroller based industrial control systems; proof-of-concept, pre-production prototyping and production phases of systems that integrate to smart devices with industrial control systems or consumer electronics products.
The successful candidate must demonstrate a continued commitment to analysis, design, building and testing the innovative applications, using the next-generation of smart devices, and integrating sensor based mesh networks. These applications are based on different embedded controller systems including ARM technology.
Candidates must also have strong programming experience (including C/C++, Java) in developing and deploying firmware applications and interfaces, customized installation and configuration of real time operating system on smart devices, designing and creating printed circuit board layouts and prototype fabrication techniques; knowledge of all primary electronic engineering design principles; knowledge and experience in related manufacturing, prototyping and assembly processes; practical experience in integration, testing and troubleshooting sensor based networks and consumer electronics (or industrial control systems) products; application development using standard IDE and tools (e.g. CodeWarrior Developer Studio); practical experience in building applications using Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) (such as Freescale MQX™ and i.MX application embedded controllers for Android™ ) and using Linux operating systems develop real time applications.
In addition, candidates must have: experience in standard RTOS, install and configure custom operating system for embedded microcontroller; a strong understanding of wireless protocols and experience in developing applications in wireless communication networks (e.g. Wi-Fi, Zigbee, NFC, RFiD applications), embedded systems networks; skills in analog/digital interface circuit analysis, design, integration and testing; PCB prototyping of a functional circuit board; highly skilled in firmware development using C/C++ development environments and be capable of building prototypes as proof-of-concept for design ideas. Candidates will have strong communication and problem solving skills and the ability to train the learners to develop applications, test and troubleshoot systems build on cutting edge technologies.
