Title #2013-123 Student Life & Alumni Coordinator
Position Summary Under the direction of the Department Head, Student Services, the incumbent is responsible for assisting in the development, and execution of a number of Student Life & Alumni initiatives designed to facilitate students into, through, and out of, the University of Guelph-Humber environment. The incumbent will be involved in the strategic planning of programming, designed to promote and encourage student and alumni engagement with the University. The successful candidate will be involved in coordinating the logistics of Student Life & Alumni activities and events including: securing, training, and overseeing student volunteers, responsibility for marketing events and services including the design, organization, and distribution of print materials, the organization and coordination of event evaluations, maintaining the Alumni database, and website maintenance. The incumbent will also act as the primary contact for all internal and external logistical requirements. Activities the incumbent will contribute to include but are not limited to: Orientation, Kick-Start, Convocation, Annual Careers Conference, and Alumni Reunion Activities. This position is a strategic component of the Universities retention strategy and is a significant contributor to the public image.
Qualifications The successful candidate will possess a 3 year degree as well as a minimum of two years of experience working in an academic environment with direct experience working with students. A demonstrated ability to work with students in a mentoring/advising/motivating capacity will be considered an asset. Additional qualifications include: exceptional communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, strong judgment and problem solving skills, proven organizational and event planning abilities, demonstrated skill in MS Office software, and the ability to multitask effectively.
