Title #2013-181 Library Clerk
Position Summary Reporting to the Office Manager, Libraries, the incumbent supports the operation of the library circulation desk including charge-out, renewals, check-in of various library materials, processing library cards, placing and retrieving holds, handling overdue and fine disputes. The incumbent will also be working as part of the Circulation Team and work shifts may change as required.
Qualifications The successful candidate must possess a minimum of a one year college certificate or equivalent, along with a minimum of one year of library or general clerical experience in a public service environment. In addition, the successful candidate will possess intermediate computer skills including proficiency in keyboarding, word processing and spreadsheets; demonstrated ability to work independently as well as cooperatively within a team; excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to communicate policy and procedural issues to students with empathy and diplomacy, providing excellent customer service to our patrons; ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions and ongoing deadlines; ability to work well under pressure; and demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail. Knowledge of the SIRSI workflows circulation system will be considered an asset.
