Title #2013-907 Human Rights, Equity & Diversity Coordinator
Position Summary This is a contract position until May 31, 2014. The Human Rights, Equity & Diversity Coordinator will plan, coordinate and implement Human Rights & Diversity events with particular focus on the prevention of discrimination, and harassment. Responsibilities will include: promotion of inclusion and equity initiatives; assistance in human rights, diversity and inclusion training and development programs; development of human rights and diversity resources; and administrative assistance to the Director, Human Rights, Equity & Diversity. Qualifications The preferred candidate will have a post-secondary degree in a related discipline, along with a minimum of 5 years of progressive Human Rights and Anti-racist education and work experience. In addition, the candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and non-Code related harassment as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act and experience handling contentious matters with sensitivity, confidentiality and balance. The successful candidate will be experienced in office management, detail and results-oriented, excellent communication (both verbal and written) skills, strong research and analytical skills, and exceptional editing and proofreading skills. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint is mandatory. Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment, some evenings and weekend work required. An in-depth understanding and strong interest in post-secondary education would be considered an asset.
