Title #2013-101 Front Desk Assistant- Midnight
Position Summary Under the guidance of the Residence Manager and the Front Desk Coordinator at the Lakeshore Residence, the Front Desk Assistant is responsible for the operation of Front Desk services for students during the academic year and for conference services during the summer months. The Front Desk Assistant is responsible for maintaining up-to-date student and guest information using appropriate software applications. The incumbent acts as the main information resource for students, guests, conference guests, and contractors. The incumbent is the front line staff person responsible for directing all calls, visitors, and contractors to the right place or staff person. The incumbent also assesses the needs of the stakeholder to decide what assistance is required. Essential to the position is effective on-going communication with the conference team, residence administrative staff, residence assistants, maintenance and housekeeping staff to ensure guest and student/guest service standards are met, while providing the first line of security and safety throughout the building.
Qualifications The successful candidate will possess a one year certificate or equivalent in Public Relations or Hospitality, along with a minimum of two years of experience in a similar capacity, preferably in a hotel or front desk environment. The preferred candidate will have the ability to demonstrate the following: excellent interpersonal, listening and customer service skills, ability to work well under pressure while demonstrating confidence and good judgment; ability to remain calm and in control of emotions during an emergency or when dealing with difficult people or situations; demonstrated ability to undertake tasks and duties according to procedures and standard processes; computer literacy with knowledge of e-mail software and Microsoft Office Suite; consistent attention to detail; demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks. Must have First Aid and/or Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Certification.
Notes Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
