Title #2012-257 General Maintenance Worker
Position Summary Under direction of the Manager, Maintenance and Operations the incumbent performs semi-skilled work in the area of maintenance, repair and general upkeep of College buildings and equipment. Responsibilities will include interior finishes for all public areas, washrooms and classrooms, furniture and fixture repair, as well as repairs to the building envelope including windows, roofs, doors, door hardware and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications The successful candidate will possess a secondary school diploma along with three to five years of related experience, with an emphasis in door hardware repair. Preference will be given to candidates with a Building Maintenance certificate as well as training in Occupational Health and Safety, WHMIS and Asbestos. In addition, the successful candidate will have a valid class G driver’s licence, the ability to read complex floor plans and technical papers, the ability to operate and maintain power tools, excellent interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision.
