Title #2013-165 Research Analyst
Position Summary Under the direction of the Dean of Program Development and Renewal and the Director of College Initiatives, and in close collaboration with the Office of the Registrar, the incumbent will gather and integrate quantitative and qualitative data from a variety of sources, analyze data for validity and reliability, identify new sources of data as it becomes available, present data in both textual and graphic formats, conduct comparative and statistical significance analyses, produce reports, and communicate results in support of program development and renewal. In addition, the incumbent will work directly with academic programs to gather and interpret quantitative and qualitative data in support of the review process. The incumbent will also meet regularly with department staff to help interpret reports and to provide any additional information to support the program development and renewal processes. The incumbent must also assist in identifying project timelines and critical paths for program development and renewal and ensure they are maintained. This position will also work closely with representatives from the Office of the Registrar in order to have a clear understanding of the data that is available and to collaborate on a number of cross-departmental data analysis initiatives.
Qualifications The successful candidate will possess a diploma or degree in Computer Science, Social Science or Business along with a minimum of 5 years experience in a data analysis environment, preferably in a College or University setting. In addition, the incumbent must also possess problem resolution skills; project management skills; facilitation and requirement gathering skills as well as an understanding of a data warehouse and data mart. Other qualifications include a demonstrated record of research design, analysis and report writing skills; an understanding of the functionality of a large academic institution; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and demonstrated ability with MS Office applications with an emphasis on Access. Knowledge of SQL, relational, SAS, COGNOS, and Data Analysis Tools would be an asset.
