Duties

Working closely with the faculty and staff within the ‘hub’, and the school or centre they are located within, the incumbent will:

  • Assist faculty in the definition of appropriate instructional strategies and philosophies for web-enhanced, hybrid, and fully online engagement in meaningful learning
  • Assist faculty in the initial instructional design and continual improvement of for web-enhanced, hybrid, and fully online engagement in meaningful learning
  • Provide project management expertise for the development, and continual improvement, of web-enhanced, hybrid, and fully online engagement in meaningful learning
  • Ensure compliance with: instructional design, copyright and intellectual property, quality assurance, and AODA standards in the development of web-enhanced, hybrid, and fully online engagement in meaningful learning
  • Support faculty in the integration of mobile learning applications, social media tools, graphics, media files, dynamic content, and emerging technologies in order to facilitate engaging teaching practices and meaningful learning experiences
  • Identify pedagogical approaches, technologies, suites of technologies, or technological solutions that can be leveraged across part or all of the College
  • Provide guidance on effective use of the College’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for faculty and students
  • Participate in formal, semi-formal, and informal collaboration events to facilitate the sharing of knowledge, skills, and information across the College
  • Conduct workshops, demonstrations, or other varied training sessions for faculty and support staff, and liaise with other experts in the ‘hub’ and Staff Development regarding faculty professional development needs
  • Create, and collaborate on the creation of, documentation related to the facilitation of meaningful learning experiences
  • Work collaboratively in permanent, and ad hoc teams to support the strategic priorities of The Innovation in Teaching and Learning Engagement hub
  • Communicate effectively with faculty and Chairs to insure timely completion and delivery of course development projects
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in any of the following fields: Adult Education, Higher Education, Curriculum &/or Instructional Design, Distributed/Distance/online Learning, or equivalent combination of academic preparation and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of practical experience and expertise in instructional design and the development of web-enhanced, hybrid, and fully online engagement in meaningful learning, including staff training and development experience
  • Previous teaching experience, preferably including some form of web-enhanced, hybrid, or fully online engagement in meaningful learning, at a post-secondary level
  • Demonstrated understanding of diversity and inclusion issues as they relate to instructional design, including a clear understanding of the implications of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act for web-enhanced, hybrid, and fully online engagement in meaningful learning. This understanding should also, and specifically, include the implications for mobile technologies 
  • Experience using at least one Learning Management System in the development of web-enhanced, hybrid, and fully online engagement in meaningful learning
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team and participate in consultative decision making
  • Proven ability of good time management, project management, and attention to detail skills
  • Demonstrated ability to remain current with regard to pedagogy as well as relevant technologies
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an environment where a diversity of people and situations are encountered
  • Demonstrated ability to work collegially in an environment of competing deadlines and priorities
 
The College requires proof of degrees, credentials or equivalencies from accredited regional or federal post secondary institutions and/or their international equivalents. Credentials may require validation at the time of interviews.
