| Position Overview |
The Avionics AME is a licensed avionics technician reporting to a Crew Chief responsible for performing avionics projects in a safe and efficient manner. |
| Responsibilities |
Safety Applies safe work practices in all job duties. This involves: Wearing all appropriate personal protective equipment Understanding and applying the Risk Management System Maintaining good housekeeping standards Understanding and applying safe handling practices with the aircraft
Documentation Familiar with general Flightcraft paperwork and parts ordering which involves: Ensuring their own work is appropriately and accurately documented and signed off in a timely fashion and submitting own documentation to senior AME or Crew chief for ACA approval in areas where they do not have an endorsement Sourcing required technical information in maintenance manuals in an accurate and timely manner as required Utilizing the services of Stores and Tool crib in a professional and efficient manner to obtain required supplies and tooling
Project Maintenance Works under general supervision on line or heavy maintenance projects, involving: Responding positively to work direction from crew chiefs or senior AME’s Working cooperatively with other members of the crew Taking initiative to work to full capabilities Showing ability to retain information and apply learning’s to similar situations Completing assigned tasks in a timely manner. Understands and contributes to meeting or improving on the time line of major checks Taking responsibility for quality of own work and fixing mistakes where required, minimal rework is expected Ability to complete any card for any given project Engaging in trouble shooting on assigned jobs including gathering information from customers as required Participating in larger, more complex jobs Applying thorough understanding of systems (air conditioning, hydraulics, engines, flight controls, landing gear, avionics, electrical generation, oxygen, fuel, pneumatics etc.) on multiple aircraft Signing off on own work and the work of others where endorsed Takes the lead of sub-crews to complete more complex jobs or special projects. Understands and applies practices that will maximize the time on the tools
Demonstrated Technical Skills The Avionics AME is expected to be able to demonstrate their capability to understand and perform the following technical functions: Clearing up minor log book snags Plan assigned work projects and insure quality of work completed Excellent knowledge of Standard Wiring Practices and Avionics Systems Be able to work on his/her own Be able to help outside bases and troubleshoot over the phone Excellent interpretation of wiring drawings Liaison with MOC and Engineering
