Job description:
 
Reporting to the Director of Operations and dotted line to the Director of Finance, this position is responsible for the full cycle payroll process including time verification and entry, direct deposit payments, and remittances and reporting to the various governing bodies. In addition this position is also responsible for Accounts Payable entry of material and sub trade invoices, performing cheque runs, and providing cost analysis to Project Managers. 
 
 Key responsibilities include:
 
 
·         Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, miscellaneous deductions, and other miscellaneous changes to employees’ compensation.
·         Responsible for preparation of bi-weekly payroll for all BC & AB hourly field/salary personnel.
 
·         Prepares and analyzes Timberline reports containing summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, vacation, disability, and nontaxable wages.
·         Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
·         Produces government remittances and reporting including WCB, CPP, EI, and subcontractor HST reporting.
·         Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
·         Assist with benefits administration
 
·         Once all hours are balanced between Timberline and the craft hours spreadsheet, process payroll and review that earnings and deductions are correct prior to issuing cheque or forwarding direct deposit batch to Director of Finance.
·         Maintain employee records and issue ROE’s.
·         Distribute cheques to job sites not produced by automatic deposit on the basis of instructions on the cheque distribution list completed by the site.
·         Generate copies of all timesheets required as back up for payroll invoices for accounts payable month-end.
·         Issuance of Record of Employment and termination payments.
·         Reconcile & process Yearend payroll and T4 related paperwork.
 
 
Qualifications:
 
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in a payroll position
  • Canadian Payroll Association accreditation
  • You have a strong customer service approach to payroll and are positive and upbeat. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exposure to Timberline software experience is ideal
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including strong Excel skills
