Title Marketing & Proposal Writer

Responsibilities Work with Business Development Leads, Division Vice Presidents, Division Managers, Project Managers, and Marketing Management and Coordination staff to develop content to be used in the solicitation of new work and renewal of work. This position will be responsible for technical writing, technical editing, and content development for various types of documentation including RFP (Request for Proposal), RQQ (Request for Qualification), proposals, SOQs (Statement of Qualifications), interview presentations, marketing materials, and other pieces as determined. This position requires communication and coordination with various internal teams and adherence to deadlines and quality expectations. This position reports to the Business Development Lead for the GTA.

With a clear understanding of Delcan’s service offerings and the processes used in consulting engineering:

•Creates and presents technical information for use by various groups and management teams it in a clear, concise manner
•Effectively conducts in-person interviews with technical personnel; develops content from these interviews/discussions and updates documentation, and coordinates content reviews
•Writes, formats, copyedits, and proof reads documents while adhering to corporate standards and ensuring client confidentiality is maintained
•Closely tracks document changes and communicates status to team members on a regular basis, following the communicated configuration management protocol
Requirements The successful candidate will have a combination of the following education, experience and competencies:

•Bachelor's Degree in Technical Communications, English, Journalism, or related field or equivalent experience
•Creative Writing experience
•8+ years of experience developing content for technical proposals or client deliverables for government and/or private sector clients
•Knowledge and understanding of the forms of contract generally used for consulting services, and project life cycle
•Knowledge of technical writing methods, trends, and technologies
•Experience with publications and technical writing software i.e.: Adobe Framemaker, MS Word, Powerpoint, and MS Visio
•Graphic presentation skills
•Experience using various technical systems for knowledge management, document management, content management and version control
•Quick learner with an aptitude for learning new software applications
•Ability to handle tight deadlines and prioritize tasks
•Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively as part of a team
•Strong technical and business writing skills
•Strong oral communications and interpersonal skills
•Excellent investigative and critical thinking skills
•Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills along with accuracy and attention to detail
•Prior experience working for an engineering consulting firm in a technical writing or proposal writing position would be an asset
