Position Description

The Clinical Leader plays a key role in enabling and enhancing the overall patient care and family experience by coordinating and facilitating patient care team processes that meet the care needs and achieve quality clinical outcomes for all patients in the Intensive Care Nursery.

Key Qualifications:
Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as an R.N.
Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in an NICU (level II or III)
Current NRP certification
Demonstrates initiative, creativity and innovation in clinical practice
Excellent critical thinking, decision making and conflict resolution skills
Ability to promote change and support others through the change process
Ability to be a mentor and lead, empowering members of the team to make autonomous decisions
Demonstrates continuous learning and professional development
Well developed computer skills
Actively supports and role models the purpose, core values and vision of Trillium Health Partners
Strong communication skills along with the ability to establish positive relationships and partnerships with all staff, patients, families and external partners
Leadership, facilitation, decision making, conflict resolution and clinical abilities that promote and encourage staff empowerment
Plans, organizes and co-ordinates the day to day activities of the NICU including staffing and scheduling and “bed” management
Provides clinical support to staff and patients
Identifies gaps in service and makes recommendations to address issues
Collaborates with the Clinical Educator to support the implementation of new educational initiatives for staff
Participates in the recruitment, retention and evaluation of staff
Monitors quality indicators including patient satisfaction
Participates on committees and work groups as required
Maintains a positive attitude
