Position Description

Manages the day-to-day operations/services of the Hospitality/Environmental Services Department according to standards set by Trillium Health Partners and any applicable regulatory agencies. Fosters teamwork and a teambuilding atmosphere within the Corporate Services Team.

  • Degree and/or College Diploma in Business, Hospitality and/or Environmental Services Management or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 3 years demonstrated management/leadership experience in Hospitality related services, preferably in a Health Care related environment
  • Proven knowledge and expertise in standard practices and infection prevention and control (IPAC) as they relate to Housekeeping including project and routine cleaning
  • Experience and working knowledge of codes and practices in general and medical waste management within a Health Care setting, including SHARPS, Nuclear and hazardous waste, including Transportation of Dangerous Goods
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in providing customer service excellence
  • Demonstrated skills in Planning, Financial Analysis, and Work Process Re-Design
  • Demonstrated experience in negotiating contracts (i.e. Waste Management)
  • Strong leadership, communications and interpersonal skills required
  • Strong problem solving, customer service and team building skills required
  • Proven ability to work effectively in very stressful and uncertain situations
  • Must to able to organize and prioritize work and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced and customer service orientated environment. 
  • Computer literate in advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrates and promotes Trillium Health Partners culture, values, management philosophy and encourages a strong team approach with all staff and peers.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with management, patients, residents, customers, employees, contractors, suppliers and the community to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Complies with all Trillium Health Partners Human Resources protocols and all requirements by regulatory bodies, the Collective Agreement and accrediting agencies.
  • Participates in Human Resource planning process, discipline and union related activities
  • Manages staff development and evaluation of ongoing activities ensuring effective use of resources
  • Recruit, coach, mentor, evaluate and manage the performance and development of staff
  • Network with other Facilities and maintain an awareness of the competition and internal/external market conditions. Fosters alliances and promotes networking to enhance knowledge and best practice trends for Hospitality and Environmental Services
  • Identify and resolve issues, evaluate departmental procedures, troubleshoot operational problems and front line staff issues
  • Recommend implementation of new technologies, equipment and ensure safety and quality assurance standards have been attained
  • Maintain cost control in accordance with budget and participates in budget process and variance analysis
  • Liaison with department managers to ensure service needs are being met
  • Develops Principles and Protocols as well as regularly updating existing Principles and Protocols
  • Prepares incident and risk management reports as required
  • Performs all other relevant duties as required
