Title Studio Producer
Overview  
We are seeking an experienced studio producer, videographer and editor who will be responsible for the technical administration, coordination, operation and delivery of in-house services within a two camera broadcast studio environment. The successful candidate will provide creative and technical services related to internal video/audio recordings, live programs and off-site videography production.
 
Reporting to the Director, Corporate Communications this is a permanent full-time position located in Ottawa with a target start date of June 2, 2014.
Principal Duties
 
  • Coordinate studio facility, equipment, scheduling, and administration
  • Produce/coordinate and help suggest video shoots, webcasts, video streaming, in-house and field-based video productions
  • Direct video productions using a switcher, chroma key and other technology within a control room environment
  • Videography including collection of b-roll footage
  • Review and edit footage as assigned/required
  • Sound mixing, coordination of graphic design elements
  • Coordinate live cut-ins or taped episodes with major networks across Canada or abroad
  • Clearly explain objectives, requirements and give direction to colleagues and guests
  • Provide troubleshooting for equipment, ensure all technology and production systems are in proper working order and maintained as needed
  • Help come up with creative ideas for production element
  • Help promote in-house studio service with staff in order to maximize the studio's potential
  • Help with the distribution of a range of products
  • Participate in the preparation of budgets and plans related to studio and special projects, identifying operational requirements and modifications to equipment/resources and media production infrastructure
Skills & Qualifications
 
  • Three to five years of demonstrated hands-on experience in a studio/news gathering production environment
  • Certification through a community college in an appropriate discipline such as television or media arts
  • Working knowledge of control room equipment and studio hardware including but not limited to: switcher, chroma key, green screen, video cameras, still store, audio board, IFBs, teleprompter
  • Superior videography, editing and production skills
  • Experience in directing within a control room environment
  • Interest in cross-platform media production
  • Skilled in video lighting
  • Superior and respectful interpersonal skills and positive, energetic attitude
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, and utilize strong organizational, project management and time management skills
  • Ability to lift, move and carry up to 50 lbs. of studio production equipment as needed
  • Graphic design ability an asset
  • Strong writing ability an asset
  • Fluency or working knowledge in written and spoken French an asset
