Title Website Developer/Designer - Digital Commerce

The Digital Commerce department has an immediate opening for the position of Website Developer/Designer - Digital Commerce, reporting to the Director, eCommerce Merchandising.
 
The Website Developer/Designer is responsible for creating and implementing creative strategies/elements that will enhance the online shopping experience, drive conversion and increase the average order value. This person will assist in all facets of the company’s online sales cycle including the development of website content and appearance, third party supplier relationships, and the overall effectiveness and financial results of the e-tailing effort, for both packaged movies and electronic sell-through product. They will need to be well versed in understanding our customers and interacting with the various functional areas within Cineplex to deliver the desired on-line customer experience. They should be passionate about movies and experienced in the e-commerce business to ensure we deliver on our promise.
 
Duties & Responsibilities:
 
  • Maintenance of website
    • Manage creative on site
    • Create timers to auto add/remove creative
    • Test content / creative to make sure links and formats are appearing
    • Manage drop down menus (creative and functionality)
    • Keep up to date on website trends and best practices
    • Develop site navigation by categorizing content; funneling traffic through content. 
  • Content groups – Update / Maintain / Quality Assurance / Suggest
    • Prioritize content groups and titles within each
    • Curate content and stay on top of competitors, market trends and live-updates and apply
    • Keep content within each group up to date and relevant. Remove duplication 
  • Endeca – Learn / Update / Maintain
    • Own the Endeca utility
    • Manage keywords in the thesaurus (so they become searchable)
    • Manage business rules within Endeca
    • Ensure on-site search is relevant
    • Recommendation engine best practices. 
  • ATG/BCC ownership – Learn / Maintain / Train
    • Create sku’s
    • Map products to skus 
  • Email Support via Silverpop
    • Manage the email platform
    • Create campaigns in html
    • Manage business rules for email series 
  • Tagging for Analytics
    • Implement different tags and manage tagging rules and structure
    • Use the specific naming convention outlined
    • Test tags to ensure they are working properly before campaign execution
    • Manage Site Catalyst, Report Builder, Google webmaster tools and Google Analytics
    • Build reports – provide information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends 
  • Graphic/web design
    • Photoshop experience
    • Create landing pages with add to cart buttons and functionality
    • Make pages appear perfect in all browsers and on devices (responsive design)
    • Apply SEO best practices
    • Video’s – Editing, posting, player competencies and best practices
    • Develop site content and graphics by coordinating with copywriters and marketing; designing images, icons, banners, audio enhancements, etc.
    • Design and develop innovative new web functions – Ensuring cross-platform/browser compatibility
 
Qualifications & Experience Required: 
  • Must have a degree/diploma in Web Design / Computer Sciences / Computer Engineering
  • Minimum 4 - 6 years of database-driven Web development experience
  • Minimum 2 years of PHP development experience
  • Experience with programming languages: Javascript, HTML, CSS, XML
  • Experience using Google analytics, Site Catalyst and Excel reporting
  • Experience collaborating/building relationships with other team members and third parties
  • Proficient with Illustrator, Flash, and Photoshop
  • Endeca experience an asset
  • A self-starter with a hands-on orientation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Thrive in a very fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Take ownership of tasks and be proactive
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
