The Human Resources department currently has an opportunity available for a Regional Training and Development Consultant, GTA, reporting to the Regional Human Resources Manager.    This position will be based out of our GTA Regional Office, 1025 The Queensway, Etobicoke, ON  M8Z 6C7.

 

Position Overview:

 
The Regional Training and Development Consultant (RTDC) role is an in-theatre position with a strong partnership with the Regional Human Resources Manager (RHRM), the Director of Operations and theatre teams within Cineplex. The RTDC is involved in: recruitment and selection, on-boarding newly hired and newly promoted management, on the job training for all levels within the theatres, management development for the theatre teams and leading the training function for renovations and new builds. The RTDC provides coaching and training solutions to the field to ensure a high level of execution on all business unit initiatives, ensuring that these strategies are supported from a learning and succession management perspective. Along with the Regional Human Resources Manager the RTDC analyzes all regional data, including employee opinion results, performance management results, operations scorecard information and other available metrics to suggest the best performance solutions to meet the corporate strategies and objectives. 
 
Responsibilities include:
 
Theatre Operations:
  • Through regular theatre visits and conversations with the Regional Director, continuously evaluates and adjust the support and development provided in theatre base on key performance indicators and metrics.
  • Along with the RHRM, analyses employee opinion surveys and works with the Regional Director and GM to provide training solutions that address morale issues
  • Maintains a highly visible and accessible profile in the theatres, providing cast and management with coaching, training and support
  • Ensures consistency of execution of all training and development programs within theatres
  • Creates training plans for renovations and new builds and acts as a project manager for all training related activities around these openings
 
Selection:
  • Coaches theatre management on sourcing and selecting top talent.
  • Actively participates in the Cast Trainer and Team Leader interview process identifying positive qualifications as well as those that may be of concern. 
  • Provides training and guidance on the interview process for theater operations
  • Follows up with all newly hired and promoted managers to ensure they have been on-boarded as per the company programs 
  • Proactively identifies issues with new hires/promotes to the GM and Director of Operations
 
Training Consulting and Facilitation:
  • Creates an annual strategy for filling skill gaps with the RHRM and the Regional Director, based on talent review data.
  • Creates an annual training calendar for all workshops given and prioritizes activities based on the needs of the market.
  • Analyzes performance management reports to identify trends and provide off the shelf or customized solutions based on development needs
  • Works in conjunction with Regional team to help develop high potentials, ensuring they have challenging development opportunities to ensure growth and retention
  • Provides training, support and monitors progress for newly promoted and/or newly hired manager level roles as per the company programs 
  • Manages the Cast Trainer program by ensuring there are an adequate number of Cast Trainers in each location, annual accreditation and follow up on the training process. 
  • Schedules and monitors all training requirements for all employees within the region, such as legislated training on Health and safety, First Aid, Smart Serve, etc. to ensure compliance is being met within each province
 
Performance Management:
  • Partners on the annual talent review process with the RHRM, Director of Operations and GMs, to include identification of High Potentials; succession planning, selection, promotion and transfer of internal candidates for growth positions
  • In conjunction with the Regional Directors and GMs, creates development plans and action plans for underperforming managers that provides them with the direction and support needed to improve their performance.
 
Experience and Skills Requirements:
  • 2-5 years of experience in a management position, with strong knowledge of theatre operations
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict solving skills
  • Adaptable, able work well under pressure, demonstrating flexibility and resilience
  • Exceptional team building skills, with the ability to motivate others.
  • Able to flex leadership styles to develop others to achieve to their fullest potential
  • Emphasis on teamwork, innovation, accountability, execution and commitment to continues improvement
  • Excellent public speaking skills in front of small or large groups, from Cast level to General Managers
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and meet deadlines
  • Proven ability to drive guest satisfaction, financial performance and employee satisfaction
  • Willing to travel 50-70% of the work week within the region
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekends evenings and holidays.
