The Entertainment Content department at our Home Office in Toronto is currently recruiting for the position of Graphic Designer, reporting to the Senior Producer, Digital Media. Please note: This is a 14-month maternity leave replacement contract position.
The successful candidate will be a core member of a small in-house creative team that produces a large portion of design at Cineplex Entertainment. The graphic designer will design and facilitate the creative process primarily for print-based projects. This includes interpreting creative briefs, preparing work back schedules, creative conception and design, and delivering a high quality end product. The team moves at a fast pace and on a very wide array of projects supporting different units within the company. Projects range from re-sizing existing creative and assets either from other in-house creatives, or external partners and freelancers, to original conception of new campaign materials. The designer should be passionate about design, advertising, creative storytelling, and most certainly, movies!
Duties and Responsibilities include:
Create and manage Local and National newspaper and magazine advertising campaigns
Produce Out of Home print elements, like Exterior Banners and Transit Posters
Design in-theatre flyers, posters, banners, gift cards and coupons
Leverage existing artwork into various sizes and formats
Manage and maintain logo library to ensure its up to date
Participate in creative ideation sessions for creative briefs
Manage digital movie poster artwork library and systems
Deliver and package creative files for printers and distribution
Desired Skills and Experience:
Post-secondary education in Graphic Design
3+ years of experience in a Print Graphic Designer role
Understanding of printing standards and methodologies
Strong knowledge of Adobe CS5 or 6 (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
Able to follow file naming and digital document management conventions
Strong eye for design, trends and technologies
Expert attention to detail, and an eye for catching inconsistencies
Highly organized and able to work under pressure and to a strict deadline
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Must be a team player
Working knowledge of French would be considered an asset
Working knowledge of After Effects would be considered an asset
