Title Payroll Analyst
Position Overview
Canexus is headquartered in Calgary, AB and is one of the world’s largest producers of sodium chlorate, used as an environmentally-preferred bleaching agent in the pulp and paper industry; we also produce chlor-alkali products for a variety of market applications. Canexus Calgary is currently seeking:
 

Payroll Analyst

 

 As the successful candidate you will be working with the Payroll Supervisor, this position will be responsible for the preparation, processing and maintenance of Canadian and US Payrolls in addition to performing benefit administration duties.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Full cycle multi-provincial payroll processing, including Quebec and the US
  • Process payroll in accordance with various Union agreements
  • Process changes relating to payroll and benefits. For example: salary increases, change of position, changes in personal information (address, family status)
  • Setup and maintain employee data in Human Resource Information System (SAP)
  • Administer timesheet upload and validation process
  • Process off-cycle runs for terminations.
  • Prepare payments and remittances third party providers
  • Reconcile third party billings to payroll remittance reports/files
  • Respond to payroll queries in a professional, confident and timely manner
  • Recognize and resolve problems quickly applying effective solutions.
  • Other duties as assigned

 Requirements
 
  • 3 - 5 years of experience processing both hourly and salaried payroll
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification preferred
  • Payroll and benefits experience in a fast paced environment -- ADP experience an asset
  • Sound knowledge of Payroll/HR practices and CRA Legislation
  • Strong working knowledge of external and internal payroll systems & processes (ADP, Ceridian, SAP, etc.)
  • Strong working knowledge of benefit administration
  • Demonstration of excellent analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent organization, time management, administrative and communication skills are essential
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with the HR team as well as work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proactive approach, anticipating events and matters requiring attention and then following through to ensure timely resolution
  • Ability to prioritize, coordinate and manage multiple activities and projects occurring simultaneously
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Customer service oriented
  • High level of discretion, confidentiality, and reliability is essential
  • Advanced skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)
