||Web Editor (1 year contract/job rotation)
||This position is responsible for developing and maintaining corporate policies, standards and procedures for the “look and feel” of the City’s websites as well as the content (editing text and graphics) management, in consultation with departments. Expertise and guidance on design and content will be provided to departments and project teams to assist them in communicating via the web. The Web Editor will work with Communications Section staff to incorporate electronic communication in the development of communication plans for departmental and corporate initiatives. Identification and application of emerging web technologies will be an important element of the Web Editor’s position.
||The Web Editor’s responsibilities will include:
• Managing burlington.ca and the city’s Intranet site
• Maintaining and developing content for websites
• Taking print products and transfer them successfully to the web
• Using imagination and creativity to provide the City of Burlington with websites that provide for public and staff needs with a little dazzle added in
||Applicants must possess a degree or diploma in Web Design, Communications, Graphic Design or equivalent, a minimum of 3 years experience in information publishing and a minimum of 1 year experience managing website content. Attention to accuracy and detail is essential in this role as is the ability to work independently and in a team environment. Experience working with communications and marketing staff and/or in a municipal environment are considered assets.
