Position Overview The Records & Information Coordinator is responsible for the management, protection and preservation of the City’s information record assets and history. This position reports to Manager of Council Services.
Responsibilities As part of the Clerks Public Information Services team, the Records & Information Coordinator provides support for corporate-wide records/information management, electronic document management, archives, imaging and library services. Additionally, this position advises and consults with City staff on information management methodologies, standards and techniques to ensure preservation, accessibility, security and legal admissibility of records. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating and processing Freedom of Information (FOI) requests to ensure compliance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. The Records & Information Coordinator is also tasked with developing and conducting a variety of training sessions for staff across the corporation related to records management principles, the records management program and MFIPPA legislation. This role is also responsible for providing commissioning services on a rotating basis.
Requirements The successful applicant will have at least three years progressive experience in records and information management systems as well as a community college diploma or university degree in records management or library science. Knowledge and experience with implementing records management software and utilizing Microsoft office software, specifically Word and Excel, is required. Additionally, the incumbent must possess the ability to train staff, develop policy, chair staff teams and work independently. Certified Records Manager designation, municipal by-law management and FOI handling would be an asset.
