||This is an exciting opportunity for you to influence and implement an era of change and progress within the City of Burlington Fire Department Communications Division. Technology development and enhancement is in constant change and requires a self-motivated proactive leader to foster and support this ongoing change. As a confident and forward thinking leader you will be responsible for the administrative supervision of all aspects of the Communications Division. This position will primarily be responsible for providing fire dispatch services to the City of Burlington and the Town of Oakville. As the Communications Coordinator, you will work closely with fire department personnel to ensure that the appropriate levels of service are provided. In addition, you will be required to work in cooperation with staff from other municipalities to ensure that affected communities receive an efficient, effective dispatching service while providing exceptional customer service.
||Responsibilities will include:
*Supervise daily operations and staff of the Communications Division by adhering to Standard Operating Guidelines, Corporate and Department Policies and related Legislation
* Supervision of staff includes staff scheduling, evaluation of incident reports, monitoring staff performance, development and coordination of training for all communications staff
*Maintain the information system to ensure frequency, accuracy and accessibility of data.
*Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and implements measures to prevent future issues.
*Review the Divisions overall performance and makes any necessary recommendations and/or changes for continual improvement.
*Continued implementation of recommendations provided as part of a City Audit Communications Centre Review
*Represents the Division on various management, corporate and community groups
||Certificate or Community College diploma in Public Safety Communications combined with leadership and supervisory related courses. 5 years emergency services communications experience with comprehensive knowledge in computer-aided dispatch, radio, telephone, and computer experience. Possess clear oral, written and communication skills and is able to demonstrate consistent proficiency with Microsoft processing programs. Must be able to react/respond calmly and effectively with stressful situations that can manifest in a fast paced demanding work environment.
