Position Overview The e-government program is a significant corporate initiative focused on advancing web-based customer service for the City of Burlington. Over the next 2.5 years, this contract position will be dedicated to the acquisition, build, implementation, configuration, administration and support of enterprise, multi-functional, and integrated web services and related technologies associated with this program.
As a technical resource, you will actively participate on various project teams associated with this program. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting technology procurement processes by providing technical expertise and advice in the development of specifications and evaluation of product choices;
  • Developing and/or delivering applications and application components including, but not limited to, web services and interfaces with existing corporate applications;
  • Implementing, configuring and providing operational support of web services and applications including training, functional support, technical support, coordinating vendor-delivered technical implementation and support services and management of documentation, configuration and upgrades.
Requirements You will have a minimum 3-year college diploma with emphasis on information technology. Certification in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) would be an asset.

You must have 3 years experience implementing and supporting integrated web-based solutions in an enterprise environment along with technical competency in one or more of: HTML, CSS, Java, ASP.NET, XML, SQL, PHP. Assets include experience working with web services and associated protocols (e.g. REST, JSON, SOAP), content management systems and transaction based services in an on-line environment.

Acting as a change agent, you identify and deliver opportunities to improve customer service or business practices in your organization by leveraging web services and applications. You can work both independently and within project teams, and utilize your superior communication, interpersonal and organizational skills to ensure success.
