Title Project Lead, Hospital Reports
Range Minimum $71,700
Summary The Project Lead is responsible for coordinating various activities related to the Hospital Reports area including: project management, client support activities, stakeholder engagement, and communication activities for facility level performance reporting projects including the Canadian Hospital Reporting Project and the Cardiac Care Quality Indicators Project. The position will also involve the establishment and maintenance of strong and productive collaborations, working relationships, and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders across Canada. As part of this role, the Project Lead will assist in implementing a strategy to influence adoption and uptake across Canada resulting in the production of pan-Canadian comparative reports for stakeholders across Canada. The Project Lead will facilitate internal and external meetings related to these projects and compile reports on discussions and findings that are shared among the team.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Working with the Manager, the project lead will assist in leading the endorsement, promotion and uptake of the Canadian Hospital Reporting Project and Cardiac Care Quality projects and coordinates activities within and beyond CIHI to ensure successful and ongoing enhancement of the project. This includes arranging meetings to share information on the project with key stakeholders in each jurisdiction and raising the profile of the project.
  2. Performs project management related activities, including development of project charter and managing timelines. Develops and implements work plans, providing regular progress reports to internal and external stakeholders, as appropriate.
  3. Participates in the design, development, and dissemination of policy-relevant information products targeted at specific stakeholder groups.
  4. Establishes and maintains links with relevant regional, provincial, and national organizations, e.g. provincial ministries and health regions. Liaises with advisory groups related to Hospital Indicators.
  5. Plans and coordinates workshops and conferences. Prepares and delivers presentations.
  6. Works closely with the Hospital Reports team in developing and implementing communication strategies for how clients/stakeholders interpret and use indicators to enhance their decision making and/or information needs.
  7. Develops and maintains detailed knowledge of CIHI’s reports, data holdings, related data held by other organizations, and tools used by CIHI to access these data holdings.
  8. Develops and maintains knowledge about health administration, health services and population health research to enhance the work of the Hospital Reports team and to meet stakeholder information needs.
  9. Contributes to the promotion of Hospital Reports products through participation on internal/external committees, presentations and/or attendance at conferences, preparation of articles for publication and other activities, as required.
  10. Supports the activities (where required) of the advisory and working groups for Hospital Reports related projects.
  11. Provide regular status reports to the Manager, Hospital Reports.
  12. Provides leadership and guidance to all internal staff involved on the project teams. Supervises, coaches, coordinates and monitors work, workload and performance of staff to ensure quality is maintained and that learning opportunities are provided.
  13. Contributes to other CIHI projects as requested.
Knowledge & Experience
  • Graduate degree or equivalent combination of experience/education in health sciences, health information, social sciences, administration or other relevant field.
  • Minimum five years related experience.
  • Significant project management related experience in a health policy/ research/administration environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution, supervisory, and facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise with health care management and dissemination of information.
  • Substantial experience in large multi-stakeholder projects and in preparing research/statistical and public-oriented reports.
  • Sound conceptual knowledge of the determinants of health, the measurement of health status, and the Canadian health system. Specific experience with developing, analyzing, and communicating hospital performance measures would be an asset.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluency in both official languages is an asset.
  • Ability to meet travel requirements.
