||Senior Java Developer (Software Developer Analyst III) Permanent Full-Time

BCAA's Information Services (IS) team is hiring a permanent full-time Senior Java Developer (Software Developer Analyst III). The Senior Java Developer (Developer Analyst III) is responsible for the development and delivery of IS software solutions and support of BCAA business systems. The DA III will perform coding and package configuration which includes enhancements and production bug fix and required documentation (ie. test plans including conditions, data and expected results). The DA III will also be mentoring team members in coding and configuration.
The DA III is the most senior of three levels in the Developer career path and develops specifications to develop or modify complex software applications, estimates and schedules tasks. Coding and testing is expected in addition to leadership responsibilities such as providing assistance to junior developers and assisting with the most complex situations. The DA III makes independent technical decisions on issues with own project work.
Developer Analyst III can spend up to 20% of their time performing Business System Analyst or Architectural tasks.
|Key Responsibilities Include
Leads design, development and documentation of a complex and comprehensive product suite.
Provides assistance to other developers on coding, writes code for the most complex situations.
Provides technical direction, participates in hiring and coaching developers.
Develops an in-depth understanding of our current product and provides ideas for improvement of the product.
Architects and implements programmatic data flows and user interfaces.
Integrates other team’s software modules.
Oversees implementation, unit and integration testing.
Leads project teams.
Leads code design reviews.
Remains current on technology and provides guidance to management on implementing these.
Manages source code repository usage including merging and branching source code.
Scopes, estimates and schedules work on projects.
Carries out other related tasks and projects as assigned.
Coordinates 8 Disciplines (8D) Problem Solving reports for all major incidents/issues that fall under their teams area of responsibility.
- Degree or Diploma in Computing Science
- Minimum of 7 years code of integration in an application development. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- Java, J2EE, Shell Scripting, JBoss, Message Oriented Middleware, some C# .NET
Experience in leading/mentoring junior developers
Demonstrated ability in the development and analysis of technical specifications
Demonstrated ability in design and architecture modeling including UML
Excellent listening skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work both independently and with other team members
Demonstrated ability to be proactive when dealing with issues and challenges
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills
Must successfully pass a background check, which may include a criminal, credit, and credential check.
Experience in more than one IT discipline (eg development and one other area such as database)
Project coordination, planning and/or management
Experience with the Agile approach to software development
Experience in leading and mentoring more junior developers
