||Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Advisor

We expect all of our EHS Advisors to proactively promote an environmental health and safety culture that is second to none. Your job is to promote and enforce the policies and procedures within Aecon’s Environmental Health & Safety Manual to all levels of employees with the purpose of ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
Point of contact for all EHS requirements for the Westover, ON site (near Hamilton)
Employee Health and Safety Orientations Site specific safety orientation to workers, owners and clients
Supply Personal Protective Equipment as required (PPE)
Coordinate any required training
Conduct workplace inspections and audits as required
Develop workplace plans – such as emergency evacuations, fire emergency, traffic controls, fall protection Post and maintain Safety bulletins, posters, distribution of safety material, supplies and equipment
Inspects project facilities and recommends corrective actions
Working with the EHS Team Lead to assist with workers compensation claims and associated activities
Support and assist in the development of return to work and modified work programs Accident/Incident investigations Mediate health and safety issues for resolution
Liaise with Government agencies (site), subcontrators and client representatives
Prepare and assist with external safety audits Coordination of environmental issues
|Required Knowledge & Skills
Onsite construction experience in the Health and Safety field
Minimum 5 years experience in construction Health and Safety
The ability to work with limited supervision and to be proactive
Familiar with construction terminology Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and safety Act Working knowledge of the Regulations for Construction Project Working knowledge of the Regulations for Industrial Establishments
Working knowledge of the Regulations for Pipelines
Working knowledge of other Regulations, e.g. WHMIS, Asbestos in Construction, Designated Substances, Smoking in the Workplace Good communication skills
