Title HR Generalist
Position Overview
Located in our Edmonton Office, the Canonbie team has an exciting opportunity available for an HR Generalist.Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Generalist will be responsible for a wide variety of challenging tasks with a strong focus on recruitment. The position will also have the opportunity to support the day-to-day business operations and contribute to the company's HR programs and systems. Key Responsibilities
  • Providing leadership, advice, guidance, and support to the organization in the area of recruitment to the Management team
  • Developing, implementing and executing the Recruitment Strategy for Canonbie Contracting Ltd
  • Coordinate with PM’s to get staff forecasts for project sites & merge into master staffing spreadsheet (bi-weekly)
  • Facilitation of in-house learning sessions for managers and employees
  • Maintain master staffing spreadsheet - track new hires, transfers, promotions, increases performance reviews, terminations and changes (weekly)
  • Participating in and supporting HR special projects and initiatives as required
  • Playing a mentorship role to team members in the area of Human Resources
  • Creating and posting job profiles
  • Screening incoming applicant resumes
  • Maintaining an up-to-date applicant database
  • Conducting interviews
  • Preparing offers of employment
  • Conducting new employee orientations
  • Leadership on recruitment process and selection
  • Daily communication with both applicants and internal clients
  • Interview training for front-line Supervisors and/or Managers
  • Supporting on-going recruitment activities
  • Basic understanding of company Benefits and Compensation
Required Knowledge & Skills
  • At least two (2) to five (5) years of professional recruitment and/or Human Resources experience
  • Post-secondary Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Human Resources from an accredited post-secondary institute
  • Registered Professional Recruiter (RPR), and/or Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) an asset
  • Proven ability to deal appropriately with confidential information and sensitive issues
  • Excellent and proven organizational skills in order to meet multiple deadlines, and handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced, high pressure work environment
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for normal functions and special assignments
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills required
  • Well developed interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficiency using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Exposure to the industrial construction industry an asset
