Title Quality Control Lead Inspector (SK) (17-001)
Position Overview Reporting to the Quality Manager/Supervisor, the Quality Control Lead Inspector would be responsible for all the Quality and Quality related activities on a multi-discipline (civil, mechanical, piping, building, structural steel erection and Electrical/Instrumentation) mine expansion for Areva Resources Canada Inc. at the Mclean Lake site in northern Saskatchewan.
Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the initial set-up of the project including:
    • The development and submission of documents requiring review and approval (ie. multi-discipline ITP’s, Welding & NDE Matrix etc.)
    • Review and understand client specification, quality manual and any specific engineering/project requirements.
    • Provide the quality processes and procedures to construction to allow them to meet the project requirements. 
    • Setting up and organizing quality records for turnover to the client.
  • Attend client meetings.
  • Coordinate and manage inspection hold points with client.
  • Assisting with the resolution of quality project related concerns.
  • Field inspections of completed multi-discipline construction activities.
  • Verification of material condition, grade, and specification to ensure compliance with drawings and/or other specific requirements.
  • Understand material receiving and equipment preservation.
  • Understand the document control process.
  • Understand the Request for Information (RFI) process.
  • NDE coordination including the identification of welds requiring NDE.
  • Review of technical documentation including Survey & NDE reports, welder qualifications, pressure test records, PWHT records, paint/coating reports etc.
  • Maintain calibration records for inspection/testing equipment.
  • Witnessing of certain technical activities as identified by contract or within our quality manual (ie. Hydrotesting, concrete/grout pours, rotating equipment alignments etc.)
  • Surveillance activities.
  • Ability to manage the NCR’s, CAR/PAR’s and damage reports process.
Required Knowledge & Skills
• Supervisory experience a strong asset.
• Self motivated individual that can work alone or with minimal direction
• Excellent communication skills
• CSA 178.2 level I or II with B31.3 endorsement (W47.1/W59/Sect. VIII/Sect.IX an asset)
• CSA Welding Supervisor an asset.
• Technical Education (WET or MET) or Journeyman certification an asset
• Experience in reviewing, reading & interpreting multi-discipline drawings.
• Experience with ‘red-lining’ construction changes
• Knowledge of various codes of construction (ASME B31.1, B31.3 ASME Sec. VIII, CSA A23.1, CSA B51, CSA W47.1, CSA W59.)
• Current proof of vision requirements.
• Demonstrated computer software proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite;
• Excellent and proven organizational skill in order to meet multiple deadlines and handle multiple tasks within a high-pressure work environment.
• Experience with document turnover to the client
• Ability to work effectively within site team
• Willingness to continually learn and advance technical knowledge.
