Title Construction Manager

Position Overview Based out of Calgary, Alberta, the Construction Manager is responsible for Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Operations Management of assigned transmission and substations projects. Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Construction Manager is primarily responsible for establishing and managing the performance of the site construction organization including safety, quality, planning, materials, and labour relations.

The Construction Manager may also serve as the Project Manager for any major project requiring on-site management supervision. Depending on size, scope, and project complexity, projects will be staffed from various operating business units across Canada. The Construction Manager will support new business requirements and support estimating activities.
Key Responsibilities Charting out the project objectives and plans, setting performance requirements, and selecting resources.
Create the teams, develop the objectives/goals of each and assign individual responsibilities.
Bringing about optimum utilization of resources- labour, materials and equipment, and ensuring their procurement at most cost-effective terms.
Oversee the construction project from start to finish, performing a key role in project planning, budgeting, and identification of resources needed.
Ensure that construction activities move according to predetermined schedule.
Devise the project work plans and make revisions as and when need arises.
Communicate effectively with those responsible for completing various phases of the project.
Monitor the progress of the construction activities on a regular basis and hold regular status meetings with all the sub-teams.
Maintain strict adherence to the budgetary guidelines, quality and safety standards
Required Knowledge & Skills Technical Diploma or equivalent (Power Systems Electrician or Power Lineman status preferred)
Minimum 15 years experience in Transmission Line and Substation Construction
A minimum of 10 years in a leadership role
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
Proven leadership, communication and negotiation skills
Good client management and goodwill building ability.
Thorough knowledge of contract and safety standards essential
Willingness to travel extensively across the construction sites.
