Title Jr. Purchasing Agent
Position Overview

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager the Junior Buyer is responsible for the negotiation and purchase of small tools, consumables and materials for sites and projects while ensuring that the best value is obtained.


Key Responsibilities
  • Primary responsibility is the negotiation and purchasing of small tools consumables and ASTM/ASME materials for Aecon Industrial fabrication shops, sites.
  • Ensure that the best value and delivery is obtained;
  • Assist the Purchasing Manager to develop cost reduction strategies to meet organizational goals and objectives.
  • Working with field staff and supporting regional offices in obtaining materials needed.
  • Support estimating team with pricing at tendering stage. 
  • Perform varied procurement, scheduling and expediting duties;
  • Ensuring quality, reliability and responsiveness to our staff meets or exceeds expectation.
  • Assist Purchasing Manger in all areas of procurement and inventory management.
  • Performs such other duties and responsibilities as assigned by his/her manager.
  • Logistics management for critical site deliveries
Required Knowledge & Skills
  • Good Interpersonal skills
  • Enrollment in or completion of PMAC’s Accreditation Program is preferred
  • Microsoft Office Products
  • CGC – Purchasing and Inventory modules
  • Knowledge of Aecon Policy & Procedures
  • Good planning, budgeting & time management skills
  • Good decision making ability and negotiation skills
  • Need to know about competitive trends, sales techniques.
