Title Material Handler
Position Overview  
Reporting directly to the Production Supervisor, the Material Handler is responsible for the day to day movement of materials throughout the facility. 
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all Safety Rules and Regulations are followed at all times
  • Maintain 5S of Shop Equipment and Supplies in your work area at all times
  • Maintain and promote effective teamwork within the functional area and with peers
  • Ensure all quality and production procedures are adhered to
  • Ensure proper completion of material pick lists for all materials and jobs
  • Place into stock received inventory performing the required material transaction within our ERP system locating the materials in the proper inventory locations
  • To liaise with supervisors to obtain required pick lists for preparation
  • To stage, pull and deliver required materials for job completion including verifying system inventory locations and corresponding withdrawals of materials from the storage locations to the shop in process location or new storage locations
  • To ensure all parts are adequately indentified and quantified prior to storage
  • To ensure completed job packages are provided with completed parts at the time of storage and corresponding job travelers are signed by the area supervisor prior to part removal
  • To ensure all materials are properly labeled by the production team with the JOB#, part number and quantity
  • To return to stock all materials that are left after job completion, ensuing proper labeling, storage and systemic location
  • To produce shortage reports when inventory discrepancies are found
  • To report discrepancies with located inventory to the production control team
  • Participating in routine cycle counts
  • To work independently or as part of a team
  • To perform required inventory transactions in order to maintain system inventory integrity
  • Perform additional assignments per Production Supervisor’s direction
Required Knowledge & Skills
  • 5 years related experience (forklift experience/material handling)
  • Overhead crane experience is an asset
  • Strong troubleshooting / problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of fabrication shop production processes
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain focus in an environment subject to constant change and pressure
  • Knowledge of ERP system and material transactions
  • Enthusiastic/High Energy/Hard Working/People Person
