||Aecon Mining is one of Canada’s largest mining and land reclamation contractors in the oilsands today, a position that complements our already well-established role as a leading heavy industrial contractor in the region. The division is uniquely positioned to offer clients a broad range of services, from environmental reclamation and overburden removal to civil, mechanical, and general contracting services.
Under the general supervision of the Engineering Manager, the Project Coordinator provides administrative and engineering services on a variety of projects related to mining and civil work. The Project Coordinator assists in the overall planning and coordination of the mining/construction activities to ensure that the project is completed in a timely and cost effective manner. This position is located in Western Canada.
- Assists in planning, scheduling and executing mining/construction activities including supervision of crews and equipment
Oversees QC and adherence to contract requirements Prepares correspondence with owner Maintains plans, specifications, cost and materials estimates, subcontracts and reports and ensures latest issues are distributed as required Coordinates procurement of construction materials ensuring timely delivery and accuracy of purchase orders Ensures project cost requirements are met and coding procedures are followed Provides technical assistance to Superintendents Creates reports on productivities, work completed and material yields Expedites progress payment certificates, final payment certificates and all extra-work orders as per contract Maintains job diaries, site photos and proper claims documentation May be required to supervise and coordinate surveyors Assists in estimating duties as required Such other duties and responsibilities as assigned by his/her Supervisor
|Required Knowledge & Skills
- Education to include a mining or civil technical college diploma/degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience
1 – 3 years experience in a Project Coordinator or equivalent role Good communication and interpersonal skills Experience with Primavera P6 is an asset
Excellent Microsoft Outlook, MS Word and Excel skills
Ability to learn and use Aecon’s project management system, accounting system and Aecon’s scheduling software
Must be willing to travel and work in various locations
Willing to relocate and/or travel to Western Canada
