Position Overview

Reporting to the Senior Manager Finance the Regional Operational Accountant is responsible for providing strategic financial expertise for a branch operation as well as overseeing all aspects of the accounting functions and project costing of an operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and mentor a staff
  • Oversee and coordinate all accounting functions for operational branch location;
  • Responsible for the processing, review and correction of SG&A and OH’s for a branch during the monthly closing cycle.
  • Responsible for the development of the Monthly Operational Report for the branch.
  • Responsible for the branch SG&A, OH and Revenue monthly forecast.
  • Implement and monitor that internal controls are effectively in place.
  • Involved in the hiring process for all accounting/payroll staff;
  • Encourage development of internal procedures and implement improvements
  • Actively involved in the review and development of contracts with clients;
  • Provide financial expertise that will assist with the strategic direction of the branch.
  • Interface with and provide assistance to the corporate planning functions as required to ensure that accounting and budgeting requirements are consistently applied
  • Perform other financial activities including audit support, as well as special analysis and reviews.
Required Knowledge & Skills
  • Possess a CA, CMA or CGA designation;
  • Five years of Accounting experience, with experience in construction a definite asset;
  • Strong technical skills;
  • Proven supervisory and leadership skills required;
  • Strong work ethic and commitment;
  • Excellent and proven organizational skills in order to meet multiple deadlines and handle multiple tasks;
  • Ability to effectively develop teams.
