Position Summary

School of Business 

 
The successful candidate will be teaching in classroom, computer laboratory and field settings in the School of Business. He or she will also participate in curriculum development and modification, program advisory committees, program accreditation, applied research initiatives (where applicable), community outreach and ongoing future program needs. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is required:
  • Education and health
  • Project management
  • Research methods / Fieldwork techniques
  • Human rights
  • Sustainable development
Responsibilities  
  • Use effective interpersonal communication skills with in interactions with students, faculty, management, colleagues from other colleges and universities, community members and other professionals in internal and external educational and practice settings
  • Provide and promote a respectful and supportive environment based on the principles of inclusion, equity and diversity
  • Work effectively in a team-based work environment, including inter-professional teams
  • Create a positive teaching environment
  • Use a variety of appropriate and evidence-based teaching/learning strategies
  • Incorporate academic technology effectively to enhance and support student learning
  • Evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes using a variety of academic assessment strategies and approaches and provide regular feedback
  • Develop, revise and adapt appropriate learning resources for students
  • Engage students to create a positive teaching and learning environment
  • Provide academic support to students as part of regularly scheduled office hours
  • Contribute as a subject matter expert to support curriculum development and revision
  • Contribute as a subject matter expert with current knowledge of issues and trends related to international development to support curriculum development and revision
  • Remain current in technical knowledge and instructional delivery techniques
  • Participate in reflective practice for continuing learning and development
  • Maintain records of student grades/assessments
Qualifications  
  • PhD or ABD in International Development Studies or a closely related field required
  • Minimum of 3 years of field research or work experience in a developing-country context
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching in a post-secondary environment
  • Demonstrated experience in course or learning materials development
  • Knowledge of adult education principles and the role of learning outcomes, instructional approaches and evaluation techniques to be used
  • Evidence of scholarly work including publications, conference presentations, and research projects
  • Demonstrated excellence in written, oral and interpersonal skills, including inter-professional collaboration and education
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in teams
  • Demonstrated understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion to meet the needs of our diverse students, staff and college community
