Title Chair, Nursing – Collaborative Degree, Bridging to Degree Completion and Postgraduate Programs
Position Summary If you are an academic leader in the field of Nursing, capable of growing strategic partnerships and building institutional relationships, Centennial is looking for you to fill the role of Chair, Nursing (CBP). In this role, you will develop and maintain critical partnerships, such as those with Ryerson University and George Brown College, which are already in place. Because you will play a leadership role in the school, you already have a strong understanding of the relevant research and scholarship and will bring a student-centred approach to understanding and continually improving the student experience. A progressive, 21st-century understanding of e-learning will also be valuable, as Centennial continues to develop its online profile.
 
In this role, you will report to the Dean of the School of Community and Health Studies, providing academic and administrative leadership, supervision and direction to faculty, managers, support staff and/or students in the School. You will provide leadership in the development, delivery and ongoing review including external accreditation and licensing requirement processes of a related cluster of courses and programs (Collaborative Degree Program (Centennial-George Brown-Ryerson) in Nursing (BScN), Bridging to University Nursing (RPN to BScN – Full time, Flex and Hybrid) and various Continuing Education programs) in both full-time and/or part-time delivery formats offered by the School. You will also seek out research/grant opportunities and respond to RFPs from various sources to build research and scholarship capacity for the department and School, while serving as Centennial’s site lead for the Collaborative Nursing Degree Program. Finally, the Chair also plays a key leadership role in scholarship and simulation activities within the School and manages post-diploma ancillary revenue operations.
Qualifications Individuals possessing a Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field will be considered, with advanced nursing credentials as an asset and a Doctorate in Nursing (complete or in progress) as a significant asset. A minimum of 7 years of industry related experience is expected. Applicants for the position should possess a current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses, and boast extensive relevant management experience.
 
The proven ability to provide effective and positive academic and administrative leadership is expected, as is demonstrated success in creating a vision and managing change within complex systems. You will demonstrate competencies in effective teaching practice, curriculum development, inter-professional education/collaboration, as well as in the area of simulation, advanced problem solving and analytical skills. Ability in e-learning and the usage of a wide variety of social media are expected, as are skills in managing equity issues to work with diverse populations in negotiation and conflict resolution. You are demonstrably able to conduct, participate in, and promote scholarly activities with a proven ability to develop and promote effective internal and external partnerships and agreements, in addition to writing and applying for research grants/proposals. You possess demonstrated skills in financial stewardship, including budget development and balancing operational budget priorities, as well as in the development and implementation of effective strategic/academic/business plans. Finally, you will have experience, knowledge and understanding of working effectively in a diverse and unionized environment.
